The Solution to Life's Dilemmas

Dilemma! Dilemma! Dilemmas galore! It seems that I am in a conundrum about so many areas of my life. It's like no matter where I look, "I am like what....who....where....how?". Being the superb problem solver that I am, I began to analyze the so-called life's dilemmas and discovered that one word seems to be the single solution to all of them. The word most easy to say but difficult to practice is "consistency".

Argh! If anyone in the world finds it easy to be consistent, then you are highly revered in my books. Let's think about it for a second. Everything worth doing requires consistency. To achieve a healthy lifestyle, I need to maintain consistency in my diet and exercise. If I desire healthy relationships, it requires consistency in my efforts to maintain the relationship. If I want to develop and become an expert at a skill, it requires consistent study and practice.

From my observation, there is a misconception that certain people find things come easily to them. We watch people who are successful in their lives, and fail to recognize the consistency that played a part in their success.

Sometimes, I am surprised when I watch an old movie or sitcom, I recognize a popular celebrity now who was playing a lesser role then. It makes you realize that these actors or actresses have been in the industry for a while, and they became prominent when they caught a break. It requires consistency in their art even when they weren't famous or were playing small roles.

This applies to many fields and areas of life. Consistency moves you closer to the goal post, offering you the right moment to score a goal.

Often, I find that I am impatient and I want a shortcut to results. I want quick results and fixes that don't require effort. I want things to happen overnight, and when I don't see the results at the pace that I expect, I give up. The reality is that building anything requires a consistent and intentional investment of time, effort, and energy. There are no shortcuts.

Apart from feeling impatient, the period from the point that we start something to arriving at the goal can be particularly vexing. At times, you are pouring your energy into something, and there doesn't seem to be any change in the outcome. This feeling of nothing is happening happens to all of us. The tricky bit is to overcome this phase and stay motivated till you reach the desired goal.

Consistency does bring forth the desired result. Things do change! It requires that we trust in the process and work towards the goals that we set with discipline and determination.

When it comes to consistency, we must accept that we are not perfect. We don't hit our goals a hundred percent of the time. That's reality! It is about hitting the target as often as possible. We repeat our attempt at something to become better and progress. It is about learning to fail as well. We learn through our failures from each attempt and gain experience on how to do things better.

I wonder if consistency is the solution to your life's problems, but it is most certainly mine at the moment. I wish you the best in whatever you are desiring to grow, build, and cherish with consistency in your own life. God bless!
